MENOUSIS - Epiros
Basic Dance
TRANSLATION: Menousis is a man's name
Starting "Position" (weight on left, right foot crossed over left, right foot free.). "W" hold.
Basic:
Step "A"
Facing slightly and moving right, THREE WALKING STEPS (right, left, right) FORWARD ... SWING LEFT FOOT forward
Step "B"
Still facing slightly right, TWO WALKING STEPS (left, right ) BACKWARD
Step "C"
Turning to face center, THREE STEPS (left, right, left) turning body slightly in direction of steps.
Step "D"
SWING RIGHT foot around to FRONT. . . POINT RIGHT TOE to left side of left toe, PAUSE
Variation I - One turn
As Basic - but releasing hands and TURNING right ONCE on the first three walking steps (Rejoin hands).
Variation II - Two turns
As Variation I but releasing hands and TURNING a second time, left, once around on THREE STEPS facing center. Rejoin hands and POINT RIGHT TOE.
Variation III - Brush step
Facing slightly and moving right, THREE WALKING STEPS (right, left,, right ) FORWARD. . .SWING LEFT FOOT forward.
Turning to face center, STEP-SWING LEFT TWO STEPS (right, left) IN PLACE. BRUSH RIGHT foot from back to FORWARD POINT RIGHT TOE To left side of left-toe, PAUSE.
Variation IV - Foustanella
As Variation Basic - steps A and B
Turning to face center - bend knees and transfer weight, left, right, left,(swishing skirt effect) and finish with Position.Variation V - Shuffle
As Variation Basic - steps A and B
Rapidly shuffle left, right, left, right, left, right and finish with position.
