Greek Dancers of the Monterey Peninsula

LOGO Judy Lind LOGO

Judy Dance experience: Darold introduced Judy to Maxine Myer & Greek dance in 1983. She enjoys dancing, but even more she enjoys being "den mother" to the class and "sound technician" for performances.
Favorite dance: Hassapiko.
Costume seen here: This costume, worn in Metaxades and Evros in Thrace, has as its main component the foustani, a richly embroidered sleeveless dress worn over a simpler dress. It often is ornamented with kourfoulithres, two openings in the front that facilitate breast feeding. A colorful apron and belt complete the outfit. The apron and belt seen here come from Greece, while the foustani was sewn and embroidered by Judy's daughter, Karen Tucker.
Non-Dance hobbies: Playing with grandchildren, creating and formatting fabulous spreadsheets, and traveling.
